Globally, many companies offer special offers for the Corona affected area. Bangladeshi mobile company informally offers something.

Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that can cause disease in animals or humans. In humans, many coronaviruses are thought to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus is due to the coronavirus virus COVID-19.

People can catch COVID-19 from others with the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small drops from the nose or mouth when COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These drops land on objects and surfaces around the person. Others then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs or ejects the droplets. This is why it is important to live more than 1 meter (3 feet) from a person who is ill.

The WHO is assessing ongoing research on methods of dissemination of COVID-19 and will continue to share updated findings.

Can the virus causing COVID-19 be transmitted through the air?

Studies so far suggest that the virus that causes COVID-19 is primarily transmitted through contact with respiratory droplets rather than air. See previous answer “How does COVID-19 spread?”

Can CoVID-19 be caught with a person who has no symptoms?

The way the main disease spreads is through breathing droplets that cause a person to cough. The risk of catching COVID-19 with someone who has no symptoms is very low. However, many people with COVID-19 experience only mild symptoms. This is especially true in the early stages of the disease. So it is possible to catch COVID-19 from someone who, for example, only has a mild cough and does not feel ill. The WHO is assessing ongoing research on the duration of the transmission of COVID-19 and will continue to share the updated findings.

Can I catch COVID-19 from the stool of someone with the disease?

The risk of catching COVID-19 from an infected person’s feces appears to be low. Although preliminary investigations suggest that the virus may be present in feces in some cases, spreading through this pathway is not a salient feature of the outbreak. The WHO is assessing ongoing research on methods of dissemination of COVID-19 and will continue to share new findings. Because it is a risk, however, regularly cleaning hands before using and eating the bathroom is another reason.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, fatigue, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin slowly. Some people become infected but do not develop any symptoms and do not feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) have to recover from the disease without the need for special treatment. About 1 in every 6 people receiving COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and has difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems such as high blood pressure, heart problems, or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.

Be aware of the latest information on the COVID-19 outbreak available through the WHO website and your national and local public health authorities. Many countries around the world have seen cases of COVID-19 and many have seen outbreaks. Authorities in China and some other countries have succeeded in slowing down or stopping their outbreaks. However, the situation is unpredictable so check the latest news regularly.

You can reduce the chances of getting infected or spreading COVID-19 by following a few simple precautions:

Clean your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand or wash them with soap and water.

Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or rubbing alcohol-based hands kills the viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain a distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing at a distance of at least 1 meter (3 feet).

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes, they sprinkle small liquid droplets through their nose or mouth that may contain the virus. If you are very close, you can breathe in a cough, including the COVID-19 virus if the person who coughs has the disease.

Avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth.

Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose, or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and make you sick.

Make sure that you and the people around you follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

Why? The virus is spread by droplets. By following good respiratory hygiene, you protect people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.

If you feel unwell then stay home. If you have fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, pay attention to therapy and call in advance. Follow the instructions of your local health authority.

Why? National and local authorities will have the most dates for information on the status of your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right healthcare facility. It will also protect you and help prevent the spread of viruses and other infections.

Keep up to date on the latest COVID-19 hotspots (the city or local area where COVID-19 is spreading widely). If possible, avoid traveling to places – especially if you are an older person or have diabetes, heart or lung disease.

Why? You have a high chance of catching COVID-19 in one of these areas.

Security measures for those who have recently (last 14 days) visited areas where COVID-19 is spreading.

Follow the above mentioned guidance (Safety measures for all)

Staying at home until you recover, if you start feeling unwell, such as mild symptoms such as headaches, low grade fever (37.3 C or higher) and a runny nose. If it is necessary for you to have someone supply you or go out, such as to buy food, then wear a mask to avoid infecting other people.

Why? Avoiding contact with others and traveling to medical facilities will enable these facilities to operate more effectively and help protect you and others from possible COVID-19 and other viruses.

If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical advice immediately as it may be due to respiratory infection or other serious condition. Call in advance and tell your provider of any recent travel or contact with passengers.

Why? Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right healthcare facility. It will also help prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 and other viruses.
